Rue Morgue!

So as some of you ever loyal readers may've seen on my facebook page or had me babble mindlessly at you last weekend at Crypticon - Rue Morgue will be featuring Slow Burn in the comics section of their July issue. Yes. Featuring.

I was interviewed via email about two weeks ago but was expecting a friendly blurb and a link to the rest of the interview online etc (probably still be something along those lines) but then I received a follow up email for bio information and then a few days later a request for some 300 dpi images for the feature.

I'm still freaking out. I may continue to freak out until like September. I'm not sure yet. :P

And, not only is that fucking AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL BEYOND REASON!

But, as a tasty bonus, my short story, The Improbable Apocalypse You Never Saw Coming - which some may recognize as the source material for the fourth entry in the Nightmares of the Macabre anthology - has been accepted into a digital anthology entitled, Not in the Brochure: An Anthology of Disappointing Apocalypse Stories. It will be put together by Christopher Nadeau.

It's unpaid and all profit will go to a literacy charity. Something I find oddly appropriate as I had a helluva time learning to read as a kid, so it's somehow cosmically appropriate that the first short story I've written that anyone's taken an interest in will contribute to other's learning to read.

Wicked.

As to the TSA job, I got part of my test results last Tuesday (same day as the test, really can't complain) and my TSH levels were within norms, I sent that bad boy in so fast! I haven't heard back yet but presumably (hopefully) I'll be off med hold and on to my way to training as a TSO before too long.

As well as the TSH test my doc ordered an antibody test to check for evidence of Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. I received those results on Friday. The normal antibody levels are like 0.0 - 6.0 mine were at 168. Pretty sure that's indicative of Hashimoto's. So at least I have some kind of answer as to why my freakin' thyroid has been having a hissy fit for years, my immune system has been trying to eat it. Poor thing.

So, while I might be less than flat broke at the moment (thank you for shorting my GI Bill for two months running VA) things are looking UP!

And just a reminder Slow Burn is available in digital format from www.drivethrucomics.com for $.99 so y'all can see what all the fuss is about :D

So tell me friends, what good things are going on for you?
